Continuing our practice of celebrating without food, Dick's birthday event this year was seeing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It was playing at our local theatre and I had heard many rave reviews.I enjoyed the show. Keith Jack has a beautiful voice and his diction is clear. The music was lively and costumes varied and colourful, but the show lack that WOW! Perhaps on a London stage the backdrops may be spectacular. The playwrights used several famous melodies and changed the lyrics. I found this disturbing as my mind was singing along with the old lyrics and not recognising the new and, therefore, I missed the sense of some songs.
It was a pleasant evening and I've seen worse. If I went my audience applause, I would have to declare that it was a great show.
