After a day at sea we called in at Tallinn, the capital and largest city of Estonia. Tallinn's Old Town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Tallinn is among the top ten digital cities of the world. Internet access was readily available and free in many restaurants and bars in Old Tallinn. As one would expect of a World Heritage Site, the city is in excellent condition. The medieval architecture is striking with many examples of very ornate doors and wall carvings. Much of the old city walls are standing. The streets are cobbled and often narrow.Old Tallinn is small and we walked around most of it in the morning. It caters to tourists with a preponderance of jewellery and souvenir shops. I succumbed to temptation and purchased a green amber necklace with matching earrings as a memento .
